Durga means 'Invincible.' She is all forms of the Divine Mother, or the Divine Mother herself. Durga is the unified symbol of all divine forces -- she is produced from the radiance of all the gods and goddesses and therefore has their essence in her.

She is the slayer of all evil (ignorance) and the establisher of harmony. Durga is the mother of Kali.
